Key Fob Door Entry System
Key fob door entry system installation for Toronto condos, rental buildings and offices puts readers on the lobby, garage, elevators and amenity rooms, with one screen to add or cancel any fob. Cheap fobs can be copied at a mall kiosk, so we fit encrypted fobs that standard copiers cannot clone.
Where fobs go
- Lobby and vestibule doors: residents tap in, visitors use the intercom.
- Garage: a reader at the gate and the stairwell doors, so a car opener alone does not get someone inside.
- Elevators: each fob only calls the floors it is allowed.
- Amenity rooms: gym, party room and pool open only during the hours the board sets.
- Mail and parcel rooms: residents only, so parcels left by couriers stay where they were left.
- Bike, storage and roof rooms: limited to the residents who rent them.
Managing fobs
The property manager adds a new resident in about a minute and cancels a lost fob the moment it is reported, from the office or off site. Contractor and move-in fobs can expire on their own. When something happens, the entry history shows which fob opened which door and when, and reports can be exported for board meetings.
Replacing an old fob system
Older systems often run on software that is no longer supported or fobs that are easy to copy. Door hardware and cable can usually stay; we replace the controllers and readers and move residents over in phases, so nobody is locked out on changeover day. The board gets a written quote broken down door by door.
For offices and single doors, see access control systems. Most buildings pair fobs with intercom and buzzer installation at the front door, and with security cameras in the lobby and garage.
